Mexican Authorities Capture Two Alleged Hitmen Linked to Los Chapitos

As part of a joint operation between the Mexican Navy (Semar) and the Criminal Investigation Agency of Sonora (AMIC), two alleged sicarios from the Los Deltas cartel faction were arrested in Trincheras, Sonora, on February 20, 2025. The detained individuals, identified as Kevin Noé “N” (18 years old) and Pedro Ángel “N” (24 years old), are believed to be armed enforcers for Los Chapitos, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Details of the Arrest: How Authorities Caught the Suspects

According to official reports, a Navy helicopter spotted the two suspects fleeing through the vegetation, prompting an immediate ground intervention.

Upon being intercepted, the men revealed their origins:

  • Kevin Noé “N” – from Hermosillo, Sonora
  • Pedro Ángel “N” – from Estado de México

Both were armed with AK-47 rifles and were wearing tactical vests loaded with 7.62x39mm magazines.

During initial interrogations, the suspects allegedly confessed to working for Los Deltas, a criminal cell operating under ‘Delta 5,’ the alias of Sergio Aarón Franco Aragón.

Massive Weapons Cache Discovered at the Suspects’ Camp

Following the arrests, authorities searched the camp where the men had been staying, uncovering an arsenal of high-powered weapons:

  • Five long-barrel firearms
  • Two Barrett .50-caliber anti-materiel rifles
  • 260 rounds of ammunition
  • 71 magazines
  • 16 tactical vests
  • Six communication radios

Additionally, authorities seized four vehicles, three of which had reports of theft:

  • Toyota Tacoma – stolen in Caborca, Sonora
  • GMC Yukon 2024 – stolen in the United States
  • Jeep Cherokee – stolen in the United States
  • Toyota 4Runner – no reported theft

The Link to Los Deltas’ Leadership

The operation comes just six days after the arrest of another key Los Deltas leader, identified as Arat Edrei “R,” alias ‘Gordo’ or ‘Gama 15’, in Caborca, Sonora.

Reports indicate that ‘Gama 15’ was taking direct orders from Erick Isaías Cabrera Cabrera, alias ‘Delta 1’ or ‘Duranguillo’, who is believed to be the top leader of Los Deltas.

What’s Next? Legal Proceedings Against the Suspects

The detained suspects and the confiscated weapons have been handed over to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office in Caborca. Both men face charges for:

  • Possession of firearms restricted to military use
  • Suspected involvement in organized crimeAuthorities continue to investigate Los Deltas’ structure, aiming to dismantle the cartel faction that has been escalating violence in Sonora.
