Parents of Fatima Demand Justice After School Bullying Incident

The parents of 13-year-old Fatima, who remains in intensive care following an incident at her secondary school, continue to demand answers and justice. While they focus on their daughter’s recovery, they have also been trying to meet with school officials to understand what truly happened.

“I went last week, and they slammed the door in my face,” said Juan Zavala, Fatima’s father. “We’re here in the hospital, and no one from the school has come to check on us—it’s unbelievable.”

Fatima, who is heavily sedated due to her injuries, has yet to give an official statement to authorities. However, her parents insist that it was not a suicide attempt, despite initial speculation.

A History of Bullying Ignored by Authorities

Fatima’s parents point to previous bullying complaints at the school, which were reportedly ignored. “Even the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) admitted there was already a complaint before this happened,” Zavala said.

The family is now organizing a march on March 8 to raise awareness about bullying in schools and demand justice for Fatima.

Currently, Fatima remains in serious but stable condition as doctors monitor her recovery. She has undergone multiple surgeries, and her parents are waiting to determine whether she will require further medical interventions or physical therapy.

“For now, we are taking it one step at a time,” said her father. “But we will not stop demanding justice for her.”

Other Parents Speak Out: A Pattern of Neglect

Concerns about bullying at Secondary School 236 extend beyond Fatima’s case. Parents from the evening shift have shared that incidents of school bullying have been ignored for years.

“This isn’t the first time bullying has been reported here,” said Daniela, a concerned mother. “The problem is that no one listens—now look at what happened. We don’t want this to happen again.”

Parents have requested a meeting with school officials, demanding transparency about the incident. Many still do not know exactly what happened, whether Fatima fell or was pushed, and who was responsible for the bullying.

“The truth is, we don’t know anything,” said Claudia, another mother. “We want answers. If bullying has been going on for years, what are they going to do? Will they enforce new protocols? Will they hold parents accountable? The school has stayed silent, and we deserve answers.”

What Comes Next?

As Fatima’s parents continue to fight for justice, pressure is mounting on the school to address bullying cases and provide clarity on the events leading up to Fatima’s injury. With growing public attention, the community is calling for immediate action to prevent future tragedies and ensure that no child endures what Fatima has faced.
