Colombian Man Shot Dead in Condesa: Gunmen on Motorcycle Escape

A Shocking Crime in One of Mexico City’s Trendiest Neighborhoods

The vibrant streets of Condesa, known for their upscale restaurants, trendy bars, and lively nightlife, were disrupted by a shocking act of violence. A Colombian man, aged between 30 and 35, was brutally murdered on Nuevo León Street, between Michoacán and Vicente Suárez, in the heart of this popular district.

Execution-Style Killing: Gunmen Posing as Delivery Riders

According to police reports, the victim was walking along the sidewalk when two men on a motorcycle approached. Disguised as delivery riders, they moved in quickly. Without hesitation, one of them pulled out a firearm and fired at least 15 rounds at the target before fleeing the scene at high speed.

Eyewitnesses describe a scene of chaos as pedestrians scrambled for safety. A restaurant owner, located just 50 meters from the crime scene, recounted how several people ran into his establishment, seeking refuge as gunfire erupted.

Authorities Respond: Forensic Investigation Underway

Mexico City’s Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) officers were the first to arrive, finding the victim unconscious on the pavement. Paramedics were called, but upon evaluation, they confirmed the man had no vital signs. The area was immediately cordoned off to preserve evidence while awaiting forensic experts from the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX).

Investigators recovered at least 15 shell casings from the scene and took photographic evidence before transporting the body to the forensic laboratory.

Surveillance Cameras Track the Suspects

Police, in coordination with surveillance teams from the C2 security system, traced the assailants’ escape route. Their last known location was at the intersection of Mariano Escobedo and Laguna de Miran in the Anáhuac neighborhood. Authorities are now analyzing security footage to identify the perpetrators and determine possible motives behind the attack.

Military Presence and Heightened Security Measures

In response to the brazen attack, elements of the Mexican Army were deployed to the crime scene and surrounding areas. Their presence aims to deter further violence and support the ongoing investigation.

Despite the tragedy, Condesa’s nightlife resumed its usual pace. Only businesses within the police perimeter remained closed for several hours, as authorities worked to clear the area.

Rising Concerns Over Targeted Killings in Mexico City

This assassination raises fresh concerns about targeted killings in Mexico City, particularly in affluent neighborhoods like Condesa. While the district is generally perceived as safe, the attack highlights ongoing security challenges in the capital.

Authorities continue to investigate the crime, exploring potential links to organized crime or personal disputes. The murder of the Colombian national serves as a stark reminder that violence can strike even in the most unexpected places.
