Chilling WhatsApp Messages Reveal Parents’ Plan to Abandon Baby in Mexico

The tragic case of a newborn abandoned in Tultitlán, State of Mexico, has sparked widespread outrage after leaked WhatsApp messages exposed the direct involvement of the baby’s own parents in the act.

Initially, the mother claimed she was unaware of her partner’s intentions. However, chat screenshots reveal that both young parents actively planned the abandonment, igniting shock and condemnation nationwide.

Leaked WhatsApp Messages: The Disturbing Truth

Mexican news outlet Milenio released screenshots of the conversation between the parents shortly after the baby was born in a bakery where the mother worked. The messages unveil a chilling exchange:

Mother: “He’s still moving.”

Her partner, 18-year-old Lucio “N,” reassures her:

Lucio: “Don’t look at him anymore, love. Don’t pay attention. When I get home, I’ll throw him away, and you won’t see him again.”

Instead of opposing the plan, the young mother suggests an alternative:

Mother: “Throw him in a canal.”

Lucio acknowledges their wrongdoing but insists they have no other option:

Lucio: “We feel bad, I know this is wrong, but we had no other choice—either we kept him or we didn’t.”

These messages contradict the mother’s initial statement, in which she claimed she was unaware of Lucio’s actions. The revelations have added new dimensions to the legal investigation.

Surveillance Footage Captures the Abandonment

Beyond the damning chat logs, a security camera in the Fuentes del Valle neighborhood of Tultitlán captured the moment Lucio “N” discarded the newborn. The footage shows him walking with a plastic bag, pausing briefly before placing it under a parked car and walking away.

A local resident later heard the baby’s cries and called authorities. Thanks to swift intervention, the newborn was rescued alive and transported to a nearby ISSSTE hospital, where he is now in stable condition.

Parents Hand Over Lucio “N” to Authorities

The leaked messages and video footage prompted Lucio’s own family to turn him in. His parents took him to the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM), but authorities allegedly refused to process the case initially. The family then brought him to the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX), where he was formally presented.

Lucio’s mother made an emotional statement to the press:

“I won’t pay for his bail if he’s given a chance to walk free. If he doesn’t learn from this, he’ll become an even worse man. I did not raise an animal.”

She also expressed horror after reading the WhatsApp messages:

“No feelings, no heart—both of them, talking the same way, without remorse. It’s heartbreaking.”

Lucio “N” now faces charges of attempted infanticide and neglect. Authorities are also considering issuing an arrest warrant for the baby’s mother, as the chats confirm her knowledge and complicity.

Public Outrage and Debate on Social Media

The revelations have sparked widespread indignation on social media. Many demand the maximum sentence for both parents, while others highlight the lack of support for young mothers in vulnerable situations.

Experts stress the urgent need for better sex education and resources for at-risk teens to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Meanwhile, the newborn remains in state custody, awaiting a decision from Mexico’s child welfare authorities (DIF) on his future.
