Mexican actor Alfredo Adame has made explosive claims against Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón, alleging her involvement in promoting a doctor accused of performing illegal gender-affirming surgeries that resulted in patient deaths.
In an interview with Infobae México just before entering La Casa de los Famosos All-Stars, Adame alleged that Dr. RAQ, recently arrested in Querétaro, carried out over 100 procedures without proper credentials, with at least seven resulting in fatalities.
Dr. RAQ’s Medical Negligence and Legal Issues
According to Adame, Dr. RAQ had been evading authorities since 2011 before being apprehended. The actor claims his legal team played a role in filing criminal complaints against the surgeon.
“This doctor was performing surgeries on trans individuals. He had been on the run since 2011, and the Querétaro Prosecutor’s Office recently caught him. My lawyers were the ones who filed the criminal complaints against him. Of the 100 procedures he performed, at least seven were fatal,” Adame stated.
Multiple LGBTQ+ organizations and victims’ families have reportedly also filed complaints against Dr. RAQ, citing malpractice and negligence.
How Karla Sofía Gascón Allegedly Became Involved
Adame further claimed that Karla Sofía Gascón may have received free medical procedures from Dr. RAQ in exchange for promoting his services to the transgender community.
“She is directly implicated in the investigation because I believe this guy offered to operate on her for free in exchange for promoting him. Karla then began endorsing him to the transgender community, inviting people to undergo surgery with him, promoting his clinic and services,” Adame alleged.
He further suggested that her involvement could constitute criminal conspiracy, though legal experts have yet to weigh in on the claim.
Could Karla Sofía Gascón Face Legal Consequences?
When asked whether Karla Sofía Gascón could face legal action, Adame responded affirmatively, referring to the actress with male pronouns in a controversial statement.
“Of course, he is incriminated. He invited people to go to this doctor, and that is criminal conspiracy, or however the law defines it. If I invite you to undergo surgery with an unqualified doctor, I am leading you into a fraudulent situation for personal gain,” Adame remarked.
The Impact on Gascón’s Oscar Nomination
Karla Sofía Gascón is currently gaining international recognition for her role in Emilia Pérez, a film that has earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. However, Adame believes this controversy could tarnish her reputation and impact her awards campaign.
“This should affect her. She’s already been pulled off social media. For years, she has made inflammatory statements about homophobia, misogyny, migrants, and religion. Now, she’s in serious trouble,” he asserted.
Karla Sofía Gascón’s Cosmetic Surgery Details
Reports indicate that Karla Sofía Gascón underwent cosmetic surgery with Dr. RAQ in October 2023 in Querétaro. The procedures included facial rejuvenation and fat grafting in the cheekbones, lasting three and a half hours and costing 300,000 pesos (approximately $17,000 USD), according to TVyNotas.
At this time, Karla Sofía Gascón has not publicly responded to Adame’s accusations. Authorities have yet to confirm whether she is under formal investigation.
